Synopsis
Humans born with dormant magic never expect to put their lack of power to use. Caesia and Zhaika Vallenscey were no different; born with the marks of telekinetic magic, but never able to access that power, the twin sisters spent most of their lives doing menial labor and trying not to see themselves as failures.
Until now.
When Caesia is summoned to the royal palace and doesn’t come back out, Zhaika embarks on a crazy journey in an attempt to save her, one that will take her far beyond what she thought were the edges of reality. She didn’t expect to use her magic, she didn’t expect to jump into a dimension filled with Demons, and she definitely didn’t expect to fall in love with one.
Even the threat of the Demons seems like nothing compared to the legend of Seven Twisted Stars, which describes seven forces that will bring the downfall of every civilization to ever exist. At first, the Prophets thought these Stars were theoretical, but after running into a teenager with a tendency to let conflict escalate, Hunter isn’t so sure.
One Prophet, one Human, and one Demon stand little chance of fixing everything.
And through all of it, Destiny just doesn’t seem to care.
But then, Destiny has never cared for individual fates. Its job is to write all of history, so as long as time keeps turning, what happens at a given point is of little concern.
Legacy? That’s my job. And even if they don’t know I exist, I’ve grown too close to too many beautiful people to give up on them now.

Gatekeepers
The Gatekeepers are in charge of all boundaries: fiction/reality, possible/impossible, separation of eras, separation of dimensions, and separation of Powers (note: it is because of this tightly-watched boundary that breeding between Powers is strictly impossible, but it was the Prophets who divided the Powers into the current dimensions they inhabit). The Gatekeepers are the ultimate authority in all aspects of reality.
Gatekeepers do not have physical forms. Their members include The Author, The Fourth Wall, Destiny, and Penny (Luck).
Twisted Stars
The Seven Twisted Stars are the forces prophesied to bring the downfall of any civilization to ever rise. At first, they were thought (by the Prophets) to be entirely conceptual, but actually manifested as seven individuals from any of the other Powers, each with a unique destructive ability involving the manipulation of a particular trait. Destiny doesn’t fear the Stars because they aren’t written anywhere in the path of history and therefore cannot exist.

Prophets
The Prophets are the self-proclaimed and self-appointed henchmen of the Gatekeepers, and the “police of the dimensions and reality”, despite having little-to-no actual communication with the Gatekeepers, or even knowing half of what’s going on. They use their ability to cross dimensional boundaries to establish themselves as a “higher” Power than all others except the Gatekeepers. While mostly having a net-positive impact, the Prophets do have their fair share of arrogance, and tend to draw and act upon their own conclusions without considering the full complexity of the situation. Their mission is to neutralize all “negative” forces (namely, Stars, Gods, and Demons), despite those forces actually having some positive impact on reality; as a “peacekeeping” measure, they separated the other Powers into their current dimensions of residence (while no other Powers can cross dimensional boundaries, they were much more mixed in each dimension before this). Each Prophet works with one other Power to “ensure order”.
Hunter (he/him)
Prophet to Stars
Jewel (she/her)
Prophet to Gods
Destiny's Janitor (he/him)
Prophet to Destiny
Rocksalt (she/they)
Prophet to Humans and Demons
Quel Fromage (they/them)

Gods
The Gods, while generally considered (by the Prophets) to be a destructive force, are important to maintain the balance of reality laid out by the Gatekeepers. They perpetuate various cycles that allow for change, learning, growth, and evolution. While the Stars are more directly and indisputably detrimental, the Gods are a necessary evil that allows the world to progress.
Kelliel (he/him)
God of Chaos and Creation/Destruction
Ruka (he/him)
God of Fire and Learning/Forgetting
Humans
The Humans are considered (by the Prophets) to be one of two “lower Powers”, often lumped in with Demons for most purposes. However, they are responsible for much of the growth of civilization and learning, even in dimensions they can’t directly access. While it is more common for Demons to possess Humans, Humans are also capable of possessing Demons. There are no known cases of Humans (or Demons) possessing any of the other Powers.

Demons
The Demons are considered (by the Prophets) to be one of two “lower Powers”, often lumped in with Humans for most purposes. They are indeed quite similar to Humans in abilities and mannerisms, but have been held back since being confined to the Astral Blind dimension. Demons can possess Humans, and can also be possessed by Humans, although it’s much rarer. There are no known cases of Demons (or Humans) possessing any of the other Powers. Demons are almost always named after flowers, and have white eyes.
Prince Allium (he/him)
Princess Larkspur (she/her)
Bluebell (she/her)
Phantoms
The Phantoms are not generally considered to be their own Power because they don’t exist on the same level of reality. Instead, the term refers to anyone who exists only in the imagination of one or more real entities. Because of the nature of imagination, Phantoms often take on different forms depending on the entity imagining them, and can live an infinite number of different lives based on the nuances of the story each real entity gives them. Some Phantoms embody the attributes of a real Power, but cannot be considered a member of that Power. (Note: Phantoms are only entities in the imaginations of those who actually exist in the TWTWOR universe; entities in other fictional realities may have their own label.)

Spectators
The Spectators are anyone observing the universe in which The Web That Was Once Reality takes place. It’s you, reading this website. It’s me, the *actual* author (not to be confused with The Author). Like Phantoms, we may embody attributes of Powers found in the TWTWOR universe, but again cannot be members of them. The Gatekeepers are vaguely aware that we exist, but no one else has a clue, so you are free to enjoy watching the chaos play out from above.
